The industrial Franklin Street corridor was transformed to a beautiful vehicle-free pedestrian link for the future of Santa Clara University's North Campus developments. Brodie worked with the University and the City of Santa Clara to develop a joint master plan for redevelopment of the North Campus. Highlights of this project included design management, zoning modifications, and construction within an archaeologically rich neighborhood with artifacts dating back to the Mission Period.

Santa Clara University sought to make its campus fully pedestrian and the creation of the Abby Sobrato Mall served as a touchstone element of this full scale conversion of the campus’s main thoroughfare from a vehicle road to a pedestrian mall. Working with city officials and university representatives, Brodie oversaw this buildout from concept and permitting through completion. The Mall now serves as both a key campus connection as well as a strikingly scenic academic backdrop.
